Theme nights for dinner

Okay, so, I remembered what I really wanted to blog about today, dinner! I don't mind making dinner so much as I hate coming up with things to eat. If I had a menu and all the ingredients then dinner doesn't have to be such a drag. So, I was given a book by my oldest sister,

and it's the best! Every night has a theme, Monday's are Comfort Food, Tuesday's Italian, Weds are Fish or Meatless, Thursday's are Mexican, Fridays are Pizza, Sats are Grilling and Sundays are Traditions. She then has YUMMY recipes for each night. It's so easy, I go through the book, make out a two week menu, go shopping, then it's done! My family loves it, Ryan is so happy when I cook yummy meals. He kinda got sick of my taglerini once a week routine I was stuck in. And, it makes me excited to cook mainly because I can't wait to taste what I've created. Like tonight I'm making the "Fired Up Macaroni". I'm so excited to see what home made macaroni and cheese tastes like with tobasco sauce in it. So anyway, make your night a theme night and if you want to try out the book, here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/093527877X/b1store-20

I love the Food Nanny! I've only seen her on the BYU channel, but it's a fun show! I should look into this book...I'm with you about the cooking part...it's the planning that is the stinker!

AMY! :D How's it going? Is your page an invite page? I tried to look at it and it wouldn't let me. :D (Unless you just haven't posted anything yet!)
YES! I'm a huge fan of menus...and I'm glad that you're liking her recipes now that you're not pregnant! :D Try her taco soup (black bean soup) under the Mexican section...it's soooo much better than that recipe Mom uses (of Sarah's). :D Everything's pretty much excellent except her meat loaf & the spaghetti that takes 2 hours to simmer...if you make it, don't use the brown sugar. Sweet spaghetti sauce = yucky spaghetti sauce. :D Oh, and try her apple crisp!! YUM. Double it for your family. Yah. Enjoy.

Okay, the macaroni wasn't as exciting as I'd thought it'd be. It was awesome before the oven, after? It came out bland, bleah. Next time I won't cook my noodles as much, I like them firm not squishy. Wasn't a hit at my house which makes me sad. :( On another note, the Food Nanny came to my sis, Fran's stake and did a fireside. She said she was so tiny. And yes Tami, Amy's page is invite only and she's pregnant with her fourth boy!
