Yesterday I was able to go on one of my monthly wilderness outtings that I take with some friends. It's a group we got together that consists of women who love to get out in nature. We started it in August and each month we decide on where we want to go. In August we went backpacking up in the Sierra, in September we went rock climbing at Sardine Meadows and this month we took a hike up to Sword Lake. The day started out so cold and it felt good to get moving. The expert of the group said it was a 3 1/2 mile hike but it took us three hours to get in. My pedomiter on my phone said it was 6.3 miles. I'm going with what my phone says because we walked faster than 1 mph. So, all around it turned out to be about a 12 mile day hike. It was so fun and pretty up there. My good friend Lindsey was able to go up and it was so fun reliving some fun times we had way before we had husbands and kids. There we are in the first pic. The hike was long but it was worth it, I love getting up in the mountains and walking around the beautiful earth that Heavenly Father has created for us.

Really I wasn't invited? Dang that looks like fun and sword lake is THE BEST! Thats such a good idea that you guys do that!
Would you have come if we invited you? You are welcome anytime. We are planning a three day hike in the summer, you game?
I am sooo jealous you have a husband that's around so you can go do something! Even once a month would be nice! :)~ I go with Christian to the mountains every once in a while but still. :)
Not only is he around more, he lets me leave the kids with him all day and sometimes overnight so I can do these things. It wasn't always this way though, he was working ALL the time a few years ago, that sucked.
sounds like fun!! i take the kids to the 'parks' here. they are several acres with a few miles of paved and unpaved trails. we're still sticking to the paved for now. we really enjoy getting out and looking for squirrels and tree frogs, etc. a few months ago we went on a hike looking for the beaver dam at a pond around here. never found it, but it was fun!
